Christopher Tisler

Superintendent - Drilling Fluids /Oil and Gas

Christopher Tisler is a superintendent overseeing drilling fluids engineers and a software technology entrepreneur based in Chico, CA. Originally from Detroit, MI, he joined the US Army at 17, serving as an Infantryman stationed in Friedberg, Germany. The resilience, discipline, and focus he developed during his military service laid the foundation for his later success in the oil and technology industries. From starting as a Rig Hand in the oilfields to becoming an expert in drilling fluid technology, his career exemplifies the value of persistence and continuous growth.

Christopher lived in Detroit, where he stayed with his mother, and Bakersfield, CA, where he lived with his father. He entered the oil industry in Michigan, working as a roughneck on drilling rigs. His responsibilities included physically demanding tasks such as tripping pipes, maintaining equipment, and assisting with drilling operations. While working in the oilfields, he pursued studies in Computer Information Systems at a local community college, setting the stage for a successful career that spanned both the oil and tech sectors.

In the past decade, Christopher has co-founded two software companies and developed five mobile apps, many of which aim to improve the oil and gas sector. His most notable venture, White Tie Fantasy, introduced a unique auction-based draft system to daily fantasy sports. In 2018, he sold the intellectual property of White Tie Fantasy, but its innovative approach continues to shape the fantasy sports industry.

After returning to Michigan, Christopher enlisted in the US Army, where he served in Germany and earned multiple accolades, including the German Sports Badge and Army Achievement Medal. Upon discharge, he furthered his education at the Florida Institute of Technology, where he studied Computer Information Systems. He also attended Mud School at Geo Drilling Fluids in Bakersfield, which helped expand his knowledge of drilling fluids and their application in the oil industry.

Christopher’s oilfield career took him to California, where he worked for several companies, including Indril Inc., Caza Drilling, and Ensign Drilling. As a Rig Hand, he maintained equipment, assisted with drilling operations, and ensured safety protocols were followed. Over time, he moved into leadership roles, conducting safety audits and managing rig personnel. As Superintendent at Geo Drilling Fluids, he now leads a team of engineers, implementing automated systems to optimize drilling performance and improve operational efficiency.

Outside the oil industry, Christopher is passionate about technology. As Co-Founder of Archimedes Workshop (ArcWorks), he developed several apps, including Goodstamp, a platform encouraging positive social action, and Oilfield Calendar, a tool designed to help oilfield families manage their schedules. His work continues to impact the oil and technology sectors, fostering innovation and improving industry efficiency.

Christopher Tisler’s career reflects his commitment to adaptability, continuous learning, and innovation. His success across the oil and tech industries is a testament to his determination to push the boundaries and make a difference.
